Where did the idea for our branding come from? The cultural inspiration behind our collage aesthetic.

Updated: Mar 12

“Pacik’s Colourful World” (Kolorowy świat Pacyka) is a beloved Polish animated children’s television series that aired as a daily bedtime programme. One of its most distinctive features was the absence of dialogue. The stories were conveyed through visuals, movement, and a simple introductory song, allowing imagination and interpretation to take centre stage.

For many, it was more than just an animation. It was an atmosphere of simplicity and creativity, built from the most ordinary objects.

About the Series

The production began in 1981 at the Small Film Form Studio (SMFF) in Łódź, Poland. Among its key creators was Wojciech Gierłowski, who worked as a screenwriter and director on several episodes. The series involved multiple animators and directors, each contributing to its distinctive artistic character.

The concept was based on transforming everyday objects such as school supplies and simple materials into colourful, animated worlds. Episode titles like Lew w kwiatki (“Flowery Lion”) reflect the whimsical and imaginative nature of the storytelling. The animation was created using semi-flat doll techniques, giving it a handcrafted, tactile quality.

Over time, the series became part of Polish cultural memory. Its characters remain recognisable and have appeared in cultural initiatives such as the “Łódź Bajkowa” (Fairytale Łódź) trail. Production materials, including scripts, storyboards, and animation elements, have been displayed in Polish film museums and institutions such as the European Fairytale Centre in Pacanów.

Why This Matters to Us

The collage-inspired branding of Intra Conspectum CIC draws creative inspiration from this aesthetic tradition, a childhood favourite of our founders. The use of cut-out shapes, bold colours, and layered forms reflects our belief that community is built from many individual elements. Each piece is different, yet together they create a coherent and meaningful whole.

Just as the series transformed simple objects into engaging stories, we aim to connect diverse experiences, cultures, and perspectives into constructive and impactful initiatives.

The absence of dialogue in the original animation is also symbolic for us. It highlights the power of visual communication, creativity, and shared interpretation—principles that resonate strongly within intercultural and multilingual environments such as those in which we operate.

Our visual identity, therefore, carries a cultural reference that is both nostalgic and intentional: simple forms, strong colours, and a conviction that creativity can connect people across differences.

The Impact of Animation on Creativity

Animation, especially in the context of “Pacik’s Colourful World,” serves as a powerful tool for sparking creativity. The absence of spoken words encourages viewers to engage their imaginations. This form of storytelling allows individuals to interpret the visuals in their own unique ways.

By fostering creativity, animation can inspire individuals to think outside the box. It encourages exploration and experimentation, vital components of personal growth. The vibrant colours and imaginative scenarios seen in the series can motivate viewers to see the beauty in everyday life.

Creating Connections Through Art

Art has the remarkable ability to create connections among people. Just as “Pacik’s Colourful World” brought together various artistic elements, Intra Conspectum CIC strives to foster connections through its initiatives.

By embracing diverse artistic expressions, the organisation encourages collaboration among individuals from different backgrounds. This collaborative spirit is essential for building resilient communities. When people come together to create, they share their experiences and perspectives, enriching the collective narrative.

Visual Communication in a Multicultural World

In today’s multicultural world, visual communication plays a crucial role. The absence of dialogue in “Pacik’s Colourful World” exemplifies how visuals can transcend language barriers. This aspect is particularly relevant in intercultural settings, where understanding may be challenged by linguistic differences.

Visual storytelling can convey emotions and ideas that words sometimes cannot. It allows for a shared experience that can unite people from various backgrounds. By embracing visual communication, Intra Conspectum CIC aims to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and understood.

The Role of Nostalgia in Community Building

Nostalgia can be a powerful motivator in community building. For many, “Pacik’s Colourful World” evokes fond memories of childhood. This sense of nostalgia can inspire individuals to come together and share their experiences.

Intra Conspectum CIC taps into this nostalgia by incorporating elements from beloved childhood stories into its branding. This approach not only fosters a sense of belonging but also encourages individuals to engage with the community. When people feel connected to their past, they are more likely to invest in their present and future.

Conclusion

“Pacik’s Colourful World” is more than just a television series; it is a celebration of creativity, imagination, and community. Its influence extends beyond the screen, inspiring individuals and organisations alike to embrace the power of visual storytelling.

At Intra Conspectum CIC, the lessons learned from this beloved series guide their mission to empower individuals and strengthen communities. By fostering creativity, encouraging collaboration, and embracing diversity, they aim to create a brighter future for all.
